Surveillance with no public debate

Whether it’s the New Zealand Police or, as in this case MBIE, the increasing use of surveillance tools with no public debate is concerning. The ‘if you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear ’ argument is flawed. If we, the citizens of New Zealand, don’t take an active interest, we allow those who would prefer to watch us 24x7 to do what they will.

Bottom line - it is the interests of the wealthy they seek to protect, not the mass of New Zealand citizens.

If you’re looking for: a genius, a thought leader, a transformational change agent or societal visionary, then you’re on the wrong site. Be careful though, as Tarantino’s character in Reservoir Dogs Nice Guy Eddie observed - ‘just because they say it, now that don't necessarily make it fucking so.’
